Funerals/Rite of Christian Burial
The loss of a loved one is a difficult time. The pastor, the staff and the parishioners of the Church of Saint Katharine Drexel offer prayerful support and are here to help you and your family in any way possible as you attempt to find God’s loving presence even in the midst of suffering.
Generally, after the family has contacted a funeral home, their staff calls the parish to schedule the funeral. Local funeral homes are aware of the parish’s policies.
A member of our bereavement committee will then call you to assist you in planning the Funeral Liturgy and celebrating the Rites of Christian Burial. The Bereavement Minister will help you choose Scripture readings and appropriate hymns and collect information about the deceased for the priest celebrating the funeral Mass.
